SEW FINE: Hawai‘i Island Threads
Fashion Exhibit

March 10-29, 2025 • Temple Children Art Studio (164 Kilauea Ave, Hilo)

The Sew Fine: Hawai‘i Island Threads is a curated showcase of Hawai‘i Island’s fashion history and its evolution into the present day. Featuring iconic garments from Hawai‘i’ Island’s past, you’ll also see cultural attire that celebrates the island's multicultural heritage.

In addition to historical pieces, the exhibit includes garments from today’s prominent local designers, showcasing how they continue to carry forward the traditions of craftsmanship and self-expression through their creations.

The exhibit is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays March 10-29. We invite you to explore the legacy of fashion in Hilo and witness firsthand how clothing has empowered women and reflected our island’s diversity, creativity, and innovation over time.

On Monday, March 17, local storyteller Leilehua Yuen will host a special talk on fashion, culture, and history.

Temple Children, a Hilo-based but globally reaching arts and sustainability collective. Zonta Club of Hilo is proud to host this one-of-a-kind experience in a space that fosters artistic exploration and pursuits in our community.
